Saxenburg Wine Estate

Consistency and Tradition leading to Quality

Saxenburg Wine Farm

Saxenburg Wine Farm

In 1989, the Bührer family from Switzerland took over the Saxenburg wine farm. Today, this estate is still a family office as their kids Fiona and Vincent have taken leadership of the wine estate.

In 1997, the winemaker Nico van der Merwe joined Saxenburg. Today, he is still the winemaker and responsible for the quality of the wines. At the beginning, Saxenburg became famous for the Cabernet Sauvignon; today also the Shiraz has become one of the best from the Cape. Their Saxenburg Shiraz Select vintages regularly receive 5 stars from John Platter's wine guide.
